Starting Off

This is amateur speculation. We are amateurs but hopefully this forum will help us to grow into something at least a little bit better than that. I never had any interest in politics or economics growing up but as you get older, your interests can become more mature.

I've been interested in socialism for some reason lately. I'm not a socialist as of right now. I'm not planning on becoming one but I am interested. Everyone knows I'm a huge nerd and socialism always reminds me of Star Trek. In Star Trek, the Earth has basically become a world without countries or money and seems to be in a socialist/Marxist state. Of course, this is Star Trek. None of this is real and there's no reason to think it's ever going to be. However, I can't help but think about possible projections into the future. What if the "natural course" of things is that we go from tribes to monarchies to democracies to socialist states? What the way things go will be that we become borderless and countriless. People are always talking about one-world government. What if transportation becomes so fast and efficient that countries do seem to be irrelevant after a certain point. The whole world would be a melting pot.

Hhhhh

Have you read anything about the classifications of Type 0, I, II, & III civilizations? Michio Kaku speaks about it a good bit, but I don't believe he invented the idea.

The idea is to delineate exactly what needs to happen for a civilization to make it to those "star trek" levels and beyond.

Here's an article which looks like it outlines the ideas:
